The Executive Mayor, Cllr. MS Mofokeng and Municipal Manager  of Sedibeng, Mr Yunus Chamda browsing the new website The Executive Mayor, Cllr. Mahole Simon Mofokeng and the Municipal Manager of Sedibeng District Municipality, Mr Yunus Chamda were present at the official launch of the all new, purpose built OR Tambo Games Website. The launch was held during the Sedibeng Local Organising Committee (LOC) meeting on the 2 October 2014.

 

The Executive Mayor said that he is very proud that Sedibeng is the first hosting Municipality to introduce a dedicated website for the games which can be used by participants and spectators alike.

He also complimented the sterling work being done by the Sedibeng LOC in preparation for the OR Tambo Games which will be held on the 24 October 2014 in the Sedibeng region.

 

The chairperson of the Sedibeng LOC, Mr Brendon Scholtz, said "We have made good progress to this point with help from our partners, the Vaal University of Technology and the Sedibeng Sports Council, but we are mindful that there is still a lot of work that needs to be done to ensure that the games go off smoothly and without any glitches.”

 

The new website is aimed at providing information to participants and visitors in the form of:
•    Directions to venues by means of interactive Google Maps
•    Contact information of coordinators and officials
•    Rules for every sporting code including appeals and procedures
•    Accommodation in the immediate area surrounding all facilities
•    Live results throughout the day

 

The website is fully responsive and can just as easily be viewed on a desktop computer, a tablet or a smart phone. This means that participants and spectators can view the site from their cellphones or tablets.
